Close Personal Relationship with the Lord

After I attended a Christian conference during middle school, I had the realization that I was a sinner. I would pray to the Lord every night to forgive me of my transgressions of the day. However, my relationship with the Lord was not personal. He was far away and I was here. The Lord would not let this type of relationship continue and through the years I began to cultivate an intimate and personal relationship with the Lord.

When I started college, things happened with school that caused my relationship with the Lord to become more and more personal. During high school I had no problem with school; I did not have to work very hard for my grades. However, when I came to the University of Texas, I began to struggle with my school work. I became very discouraged and stressed. Little did I know that during my first year the Lord was using this to develop a personal relationship with me.

As my first year at UT progressed, I realized that I could not go on without the Lord. I prayed more to Him and told Him that I could not go on without Him. This was the opening the Lord was looking for. This small opening in my being allowed Him to work in me to develop the personal relationship the Lord and I both desired and needed. Now the Lord is no longer far away. He is close to me and has never left me. I feel His sweet presence with me daily and this fills me with joy. I praise Him that He did not let my previous relationship with Him continue. Daily my relationship with the Lord becomes more personal and intimate.
